Committee on Ministry

The purpose of the Committee on Ministry is to assist congregations as they call, employ, and work with all church employees, both Teaching Elders and lay persons, and to facilitate relations among Teacher Elders, congregations and the Presbytery.

Some of the Committee on Ministry’s responsibilities:

• Periodic visits with sessions and congregations in the Presbytery
• Counseling and guidance for congregations during transitions between pastors
• Monitoring of compensation for Teaching Elders in parish ministry
• Communication with all Teaching Elders, including those in ministries other than congregations
• Oversight of Teaching Elders seeking membership in the Presbytery
• Periodic continuing education events/retreats for Teaching Elders and lay church employees
• Advocate for lay employees
