Support Education for Incarcerated Neighbors – Summer Freedom Campaign

Support Education, Empathy, and Healing for Incarcerated Neighbors
The Transformative Justice Center in Monterey invites our congregations and community members to support its Summer Freedom Match Campaign, benefiting the Empathy in Action program.
The Organization
Empathy in Action brings college students, faculty, and members of the public into meaningful conversation with incarcerated participants. Guided by a transformative justice curriculum, participants engage literature and personal stories to cultivate empathy, forgiveness, healing, and personal growth. The program creates space for people on both sides of prison walls to listen deeply, recognize one another’s humanity, and build relationships rooted in understanding.
The Fundraiser
Incarcerated participants have pledged $5,000 from their own limited savings to match contributions from the wider community—a powerful expression of their belief in the program and its capacity to transform lives. Donations help sustain programming within California prisons while supporting educational materials, reentry services, workforce development, and other resources for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated neighbors.
As people of faith, we are called to uphold the dignity of every person and accompany those seeking healing, restoration, and a renewed future. We invite you to learn more and consider supporting this important work.
